It’s fine for Democrats to be upset that Donald Trump schlonged Hillary Clinton, but the reality is that they spent the entirety of the Obama years getting their brains beaten in. When Obama first took office, they held the House and 60 seats in the Senate and controlled the majority of governorships and state legislatures. Now, the GOP has a large majority in the House, 52 seats in the Senate, and the majority of state legislatures and governorships.
Democrats went from thinking they were on the verge of a permanent political ascendancy to the worst political bloodbath in American history. Put another way, Democrats are the George Armstrong Custer of political parties, and yet that doesn’t seem to have inspired any soul searching at all. So here are some questions Democrats should be asking themselves right now:
1) Hillary Clinton? Seriously? Hillary had a potential FBI indictment hanging over her head even as Democrats nominated her. She’s unlikable, not particularly accomplished for a presidential candidate, campaigned on a radically liberal agenda, has corruption issues, and her campaign pitch could be boiled down to “Vote For Me Because I’m A Woman.” On top of that, she was already so widely despised that she turned out Republicans. You could make a decent argument that she’s the single worst presidential candidate of all time, yet she won anyway. Of course, you could make the argument that a radical socialist like Bernie Sanders would have been worse, but even if so, why do the Democrats have so few quality candidates? Where are the blue chip candidates?

An increasing burden of paperwork, tied in part to healthcare reforms driven by Obamacare, now consumes about one-sixth of a typical America physician’s day — impinging on the time doctors can spend caring for patients.
That’s the upshot of a new study led by Harvard Medical School researchers who found the average doctor spends 16.6 percent of his or her working hours on non-patient-related paperwork.
The findings, which are based on a nationally representative survey of physicians, tied the trend to changes in U.S. health policy — including a shift to employment in large practices, the implementation of electronic medical records as part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, and the increasing prevalence of financial risk sharing.
In a report on the study, published in the International Journal of Health Services, the researcher said the trend is likely to continue, increases doctors’ paperwork burdens, cutting into time spent with patients, and decreasing career satisfaction among those in the medical profession.
Lead researchers Steffie Woolhandler, M.D., and David Himmelstein, M.D., are internists in the South Bronx who serve as professors of public health at the City University of New York and lecturers in medicine at Harvard Medical School.
Their conclusions are based on an analysis of confidential data from the 2008 Health Tracking Physician Survey, which collected information from a nationally representative sample of 4,720 physicians who practiced at least 20 hours per week.

USA Today—Since the election of President Donald Trump, the debate around Islamic dress has taken a new turn: The hijab has emerged as a symbol of resistance to Islamophobia amid policies from the Trump administration targeting Muslim immigrants.
Scores of non-Muslims have donned hijabs to express solidarity with Muslim women, too, though some criticized the move, arguing that the garment represents oppression of women.
The Federalist—The hijab and other head and body covering for women waxed and waned during the twentieth and thus far in the twenty-first century depending on the level of cultural secularization in the Arab world. In other words, when Muslim piety grew, even in minor pockets, the enforcement grew, and head and body covering grew as a result. In Iran today it is illegal for any woman (native or visitor) to be in public without a head covering.
For some Middle Eastern Christians, Muslim head and body covering in the West has become a trigger that reminds them of their life in the Arab world under an Islamic government. Those memories bring back all the harassment, prejudice, and discrimination they experienced. It sometimes even brings back bitterness that they had to leave their homeland because of the inhospitable environment. Even if in some places head and body covering wasn’t enforced on Christian women, the practice is tied to Islam, which in turn is tied to the state.
Like other religions, the clothing and covering aspect of Islam is an outward manifestation of the theology—only, unlike in other religions, it is not separated from the laws of the state. In other words, the politics or culture of some countries force their girls and women to wear the hijab or niqab, but that compulsion is not intrinsic to the religion.

A translator at refugee camps in Germany has claimed Muslim migrants hate Christians and want to Islamize the country.
The woman, 39, from Eritrea, came to Germany as a refugee herself in 1991, before volunteering at asylum centers to “give something back.”
But the Arabic speaker said what she discovered when working with migrants over the last five years shocked her.
During her time at a number of centers across the country, she said she discovered Muslim refugees preaching “pure hatred” of Christians.
Muslim children were told by their parents not to play with Christian kids.
And she herself was told it was a sin for her to help feed and defend Christians.
She told German Catholic website Kath.net: “They want Germany to be Islamized. They despise our country and our values.”
She claimed many of the migrants showed their “true colors” only when they were away from people of other religions.
The translator explained: “Pure hatred against non-believers is preached, and children are brought here from an early age here in Germany.
“It’s very similar in asylum housing, where Muslim boys refuse to play with Christians.
“Some women told me, ‘We will multiply our numbers. We must have more children than the Christians because it’s the only way we can destroy them here.’”
