Bernie Sanders and the Politics of Envy | Afterburner

Must. See.  Yeah, I’m bossy like that, lol, but this is a great, informative, video.  🙂

Bill Whittle spoke to a progressive audience of high school students, and took several Bernie Sanders questions. Hear what he told those millennials.

Quotes from The Iron Lady

Saw this over on Reaganite Republican Resistance and knew it was too good to pass up.  Mrs. Thatcher is an amazing woman, and I have been fortunate to live during the time she was Prime Minister of England.  Thank you, Mrs. Thatcher!

The Iron Lady Speaketh!

So very relevant to our current predicament in USA- and some things for the Lindsey Grahams of the world too, like no compromise on conservative principles:

There can be no liberty unless there is economic liberty.

A world without nuclear weapons would be less stable and more dangerous for all of us.

I seem to smell the stench of appeasement in the air.

Standing in the middle of the road is very dangerous; you get knocked down by the traffic from both sides.

Nothing is more obstinate than a fashionable consensus.

There are still people in my party who believe in consensus politics. I regard them as Quislings, as traitors… I mean it.

To me, consensus seems to be the process of abandoning all beliefs, principles, values and policies. So it is something in which no one believes and to which no one objects.

To cure the British disease with socialism was like trying to cure leukaemia with leeches.

Pennies do not come from heaven. They have to be earned here on earth.

People think that at the top there isn’t much room. They tend to think of it as an Everest. My message is that there is tons of room at the top.

The trouble with socialism is, eventually you run out of other people’s money.

I always cheer up immensely if an attack is particularly wounding because I think, well, if they attack one personally, it means they have not a single political argument left.

Power is like being a lady… if you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.

I owe nothing to Women’s Lib.

God Bless You  Margaret Thatcher

Zo, you say it so well!

Conservative – NOT!

Recently I came across a wonderful article about Conservatives.  There are a lot of misconceptions out there about us, and it was refreshing to see someone write about that, and define and debunk those beliefs that are typically attributed to us.  To read the article in full, please read: What Conservatism Isn’t

  • Conservatives don’t dislike minorities:
  • Conservatives don’t want women kept barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen:
  • Conservatives aren’t anti-science:
  • "Conservative" and "Republican" aren’t necessarily the same thing:
  • Conservatives aren’t theocrats:
  • Conservatives rig the elections:
  • Conservatives don’t want to pollute the environment:
  • Conservatives aren’t in the pocket of the rich:

Politics is about ideologies to me, not so much about candidates.  The candidates are supposed to represent the ideologies of the party.  Things like race, gender, age – those things are irrelevant, or should be, in the political race.  I am categorically opposed to Liberalism because I disagree with their ideologies.  I am, for the record, committed to Conservatism because its ideology closely matches my own personal beliefs.

In a nutshell, this is how I define them:

  • Conservatism – Government of the people, by the people, for the people.
  • Liberalism – Government of the people, by the government, for the government.
  • Conservatism – Government getting out of your way so you can live your life how you best see fit.
  • Liberalism – Government telling you what you can do, when you can do it, and how you can do it, as it best sees fit.
  • Conservatism – Letting you keep most of the money you worked hard to earn.
  • Liberalism – Taking most of the money you earn so it can give it to others who will vote for more government.
  • Conservatism – Being responsible for yourself.
  • Liberalism – Making the government responsible for you.

Government is not our parent, it is not our master.  Its job is not to take care of us, that’s our job, to take care of ourselves.  It’s not the government’s job to provide for you – that’s our job.  Government is supposed to be our servant.

My reading of history convinces me that most bad government results from too much government.
Thomas Jefferson

That government is best which governs the least, because its people discipline themselves.
Thomas Jefferson
