My husband and I were talking the other day about the unemployment rate. Many people at his company got laid off, and I was telling him what I was seeing in the news about the DJIA and unemployment rates, that sort of stuff. I thought I’d put together a list of some links to the kind of stuff I see in the news.
While this first article is from 2014, the numbers haven’t changed all that much.
Wall Street adviser: Actual unemployment is 37.2%, ‘misery index’ worst in 40 years
Don’t believe the happy talk coming out of the White House, Federal Reserve and Treasury Department when it comes to the real unemployment rate and the true “Misery Index.” Because, according to an influential Wall Street advisor, the figures are a fraud.
In a memo to clients provided to Secrets, David John Marotta calculates the actual unemployment rate of those not working at a sky-high 37.2 percent, not the 6.7 percent advertised by the Fed, and the Misery Index at over 14, not the 8 claimed by the government.
Marotta, who recently advised those worried about an imploding economy to get a gun, said that the government isn’t being honest in how it calculates those out of the workforce or inflation, the two numbers used to get the Misery Index figure.
“The unemployment rate only describes people who are currently working or looking for work,” he said. That leaves out a ton more.

The number of people on some kind of support keeps growing, while the number of people providing that support keeps lowering. This is not sustainable. The government cannot continue to provide, when the providers are out of work. Nor should the government be providing these kinds of things for people. That is the responsibility of families, churches, communities, and organizations designed for such things. The government’s declared Constitutional role is to provide for the national defense, not food stamps.
Survey data released by the Pew Research Center in 2013 show that 8% of U.S. Muslims believe that the use of “suicide bombing and other forms of violence against civilian targets” is either “often” or “sometimes” justified in defense of Islam.
Think about that for a minute.
So, that’s like 1,000,000 US Muslims who think suicide bombing is “often or sometimes justified.” Roughly, 20,000 per state.
Are you good with that? Are you good with just half a million being okay with you being targeted by a suicide bomber?
Because honestly, I’m not good with anyone being okay with suicide bombing, on any level.
Last year, the bakery’s owners refused to make a wedding cake for Rachel Cryer and Laurel Bowman, of Portland, citing their Christian beliefs. The couple then filed a complaint with the state.
To which I say, this is insane. Even a prostitute gets to choose which customers to service. No one sues them for “discrimination.”
How many Islamic businesses have been sued on homosexual discrimination grounds?
No shoes, no shirt, no service – what about that kind of “discrimination,” are shoeless/shirtless people going to start suing businesses now?
A business is allowed to have standards, and has the right to refuse service to anyone, for any reason.
Gay people have the right, and the freedom, to go to any other store they want and buy the item or service they want. There is no law saying they don’t have those rights, therefore there are no civil rights violations against them.
There is no “right” to force a business or person to service you against their will.
These lawsuits are strawmen, designed to target Christians, and nothing more.
Would a man go into a ladies shoe store and demand men’s shoes?
Would a middle aged woman go into a baby store and demand make-up?
Are we going to start suing every business for not carrying every item for every single one of us?
“I’m sorry, we don’t have same sex themed wedding cakes here, but such and such store across the street does, would you like me to call them for you?”
That is not discrimination, and no one’s “rights” have been violated.
Besides, getting the themed cake of your choice is not a right. It’s a luxury.
